Skirts’ TGIF…October 16, 2009

by Charlie on October 16, 2009

We are 75 days from the end of the year…Do you know what your business and marketing plans are for 2010? Many of us would probably say very loudly, NO! Even retailers are trying to rush us through to the end of the year by pulling out their holiday decorations even before Halloween. But, this week I participated in two conferences where folks were talking about 2010.

Both conferences had sessions on digital media, social media, accountability and recruiting. These sessions were standing room only… both young and old wanted to learn as much as they could about these subjects. So, I thought I would share with you the top 10 list from the Google session I attended this week.

  1. Our customers are on line, 90% of adults are online
  2. 20 hours of video is upload to YouTube every hour
  3. Google, Yahoo and Bing drives about 30% of the real estate searches
  4. In 2008, the real estate ad spend was over $8 million and is expected to be $10 million in 2012
  5. He recommended that we monitor our sites to see what consumers are searching for and to increase our keywords to match their searches
  6. When considering buying online advertising, consider working with Ad Networks for niche marketing
  7. Customers spend an average of 10 minutes per Real Estate site visit, a 7% increase from last year
  8. Join the video world, 72% of internet users watch online videos, make sure your company has a YouTube channel that is both educational and informative
  9. SEM (Search Engine Marketing) allows you to have campaigns that are targeted and can be measured
  10. Target ads to your customers using location, mobile devices, search engines, other local websites, and keywords

During the Q & A, we learned that some companies were spending thousands of dollars on SEM and others had no idea on how to get started. One participant highly praised the various Google seminars that are offered throughout the United States. Make sure you Google to see if there is one coming to your area.
