Celebrating The Real Deal

The Real Deal

Every so often, we have the good fortune of crossing paths with exceptionally talented people. When those talented people become friends, our lives are doubly blessed. When those friends celebrate a life event – whether personal or professional – we want to celebrate along with them.

So in the spirit of celebration, Skirts in Dirt congratulates Martha Burgoon-Karelius and her co-author, Bobbi Mezger on the publication of their first book, The Real Deal.

I’ve know Martha for close to 12 years now. Our paths first crossed at a top agent event during a CENTURY 21 convention. Since then, I’ve witnessed her drive, her determination, and her sense of humor – first hand. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned from Martha (way before this book was ever published) is that nothing happens without goals. Whether it’s a sales goal or throwing a fabulous dinner party (yep, she does an amazing job at that, too :) ), Martha always has a checklist.

I won’t ruin it for you and attempt to share their specific lessons with you here, but I will tell you that there are more than 40 amazing tips and techniques revealed in this book. It’s the kind of book you can feel equally comfortable leaving on your desk OR on your nightstand. It’s as relevant at home as it is in the office (or, as in many of our cases, in our home offices).

Read it on a good day or read it on a day when you really need a ‘pick me up’. You can finish the entire book in a day or two. I’m on my second time through. This time I’m reading one chapter a day. It’s restoring my faith in living life ‘by design’.

The Real Deal is this month’s Skirts In Dirt Book Club selection. You can read the official Skirts’ review here. This book is proof that you can create a personal vision for your life and make it happen. I loved it. The Real Deal gives us so much to discuss and share. Each of us will have our own takeaways. I’ve noted a few favorites and can’t wait to share them with you. So read The Real Deal and then come on back and let us know which tip or trick was the most powerful for you.

Here’s to living a life ‘on purpose’ and celebrating friends.

I agree with the comments above. It’s a book you can read again and again. I appreciate the checklist. More importantly, the realization that their success didn’t just happen–it was all part of a plan and a goal. Thanks for sharing the tips to help be more successful in the book!
