The Pooh in Each of Us

In the last decade, much has been written on the topic of ‘spirit.’  Indeed, the American Spirit has defined and united us as a nation.

As Skirts, we see spirit as that energy that gets us up in the morning and allows us to face each new day with a sense of purpose and hope.  We see spirit as that special ingredient that ignites a passion in us to live better, healthier, wiser and more keenly connected to those around us.  We also see spirit as very personal and very sensitive, and we know that no one person goes about tapping and protecting their inner spirit in the same way.

In covering the topic here, we hope to engage each of you with ideas and inspirations that will uplift you and help you better realize your inner spirit.  To balance, to nurture, to sustain, to share – we each deserve time to look inward and allow our spirit the attention we aim to give it here.

When we tap our spirit – however we tap our spirit – we set aside our chaotic life and focus on the simple, the uncomplicated and a life without distraction.  We accomplish this through meditation, philanthropy, working with children or elders, travel, study, mentors, hypnosis, and hobbies like gardening, writing, woodworking, sewing, cooking, collecting and biking.

Consider a favorite read, The Tao of Pooh, in which Winnie the Pooh represents what is known as The Uncarved Block.  The essence of The Uncarved Block is that things in their original simplicity actually contain their own natural power, power that is easily spoiled and lost when that simplicity is changed.

This power applies to not only things, but people, too. Winnie the Pooh is the epitome of The Uncarved Block, and his character is without arrogance, complication, layers or prejudices.  He is simple, childlike, without judgment and sees life as fun.  As Piglet says, “Pooh hasn’t much brain, but he never comes to any harm. He does silly things and they turn out right.”

Other characters represent other good and not-so-good aspects of life, of course.  We are better and more perceptive because of the Owls, Tiggers, Rabbits, Eeyores and even Christopher Robins in our life!  But the message of The Uncarved Block is very important:  Life IS fun, especially when it’s lived with a spirit that is alive and fed regularly.

We hope you enjoy the energy we invest in your spirit here at Skirts In Dirt.  We understand its importance to your success in real estate, your fulfillment as a woman, and your energy on the planet.
